RH645 Rare German 800 Silver Covered Monteith Punch Bowl

An important German antique 800 silver punch bowl with lid and figural finial. The maker is William Lameyer of Hannover in Germany. Decorated with chased grapes and vines and with cast applied winged lion feet. There are mercantile cast crests applied to the sides and the interior gilt is original and in perfect condition. The decoration on the dome is that of crashing sea waves. The figural finial is standing below a fluffy tree with branches done in a style we have seen in pieces from Hanover by Neresheimer. Quite the most stunning piece and we have included a picture to show the scale in relation to a person.

Provenance: The Victor Niederhoffer Collection

Height 23 1/2"

Weight 183 troy oz.
